Charity week - Almost over..

MashaAllah! Well done to the Sisters of Brighton & Sussex Unis and the Muslim Women of Brighton & Hove and surrrounding areas.

Last wednesday (3rd Nov), at al Medinah Masjid Brighton, in a space of 3 hours they managed to raise £1331.31p for charity week.

Objectives

• Provide a platform to openly discuss foreign policies with an FCO Ambassador,

• Encourage constructive dialogue to strengthen the connection between the local and the international,

• Listen to communities and create a platform to communicate policies,

• Provide a safe space for young people (aged 16-30) to air their grievances,

Jamie Bowden joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1986 after seven years as an Army Officer (in the Royal Green Jackets). During his 20 years in the Diplomatic Service he has served in Aden, Khartoum, Washington, Riyadh and Kabul. In addition he has occupied positions in London as Desk Officer in Republic of Ireland Department, and as Head of the Political Section in United Nations Department. Immediately before taking up his current position Jamie was Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Kuwait, from where he did six months temporary duty as Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Baghdad.
Structure

5.10 – 5.30: Refreshments for session 1
Session 1: Restricted to young people (aged 16-30)

5.30 – 5.35: Welcome and Introductions by Chair

5.35 – 5.50: Ambassador to give overview of his career and the role of the embassy

5.50 – 7.00: Q&A (written questions will also be put forward to the Ambassador)

7.00 – 7.05: Chair to close the session

7.05 – 7.25pm: Break (Refreshments for session 2 and prayer facilities will be available)
Session 2: Restricted to community leaders, councillors, council leader and the 30+ age group

7.25 – 7.30: Welcome and Introductions by Chair

7.30 – 7.40: Ambassador to give overview of his career and the role of the embassy

7.40 – 8.25: Q&A (written questions will also be put forward to the Ambassador)

8.25 - 8.30: Chair to close the session
